TIPI/TP Organics and Organic Stakeholder Action Plan

The 3rd Science day took place at Biofach 2015 as a joint event of TIPI, the Technology Innovation Platform of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and TP Organics, the European Technology Platform for Organic Food and Farming Research.

The morning focused on developments in Europe and included the launch of the new Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for the European organic sector and a session focussing on financing business-research cooperation for innovation. Increased research investment for the organic sector has/ will contribute to a more sustainable production systems and new and resilient business models. TP Organics therefore demanded that at least 10% of the Horizon 2020 agriculture research budget to be dedicated to the organic sector. The SRIA document will be used to influence funding priorities of EU and national research programmes. The session also outlined ideas and instruments that the European Commission sees as important to support the sector, including the SME instrument and the Fast Track to Innovation with are concerned with supporting SME in the phases to market uptake, including piloting, validation of business models and standard-setting.

In the afternoon, TIPI, the Technology Innovation Platform of IFOAM, introduced the second draft of its Global Vision and Strategic Research Agenda for Organic Farming Research, representatives of selected stakeholder groups provided their views on the agenda, followed by a discussion with the participants. read more
