![]() Organic food in schoolsThere's no reason why school meals should not include a proportion of organic food. Sourced locally and in season, it is competitively priced and shows that a school is making a commitment to sustainable farming. Organic food can also feature in school tuck shops or projects such as school farmers markets or food co-ops.School mealsOCW is carrying out school meal projects around Wales as part of Better Organic Business Links. The aim of the projects is to bring local food (including organic food) to the school kitchen and connect children with farming and the food chain.Read about two projects in Abergele and Cardiff. Farmers marketsFarmers markets in schools were pioneered by the Mid Wales Food and Land Trust.
